Big-Hearted Boy Going Through Rough Time


To highlight the great work of staff, we typically look to identify “patient success stories” that we can promote to the news media and consumers in general. The sad truth is, there are many patients for whom there is not going to be a happy ending. However, as reflected in this WPIX-Channel 11 story, the support of the clinicians, social workers and Child Life professionals at Cohen Children’s Medical Center has made a huge difference in the life of eight-year-old Adam Ursin, who has been in and out of hospitals most of his life, and undergone dozens of surgeries and procedures for a brain malformation. His emotional strength and good humor has enabled his family and him to persevere – and made him a favorite among staff.
