Leading the way in After-Hours Emergency Pediatric Care
The Urgi Center at Cohen Children’s Medical Center provides after-hours and urgent pediatric care for your family when your own pediatrician is not available and your child requires immediate treatment for an illness or injury. Our Urgi Center is a walk-in facility that provides on-site X-rays, laboratory testing and treatment for broken bones, sprains, minor trauma, fever, ear infections and other medical situations.
We, at the Urgi Center, strive to make your patient experience as pleasant as possible. When patients arrive at our after-hours center, they are seen on a first come first serve basis. We see children with non emergency problems who are attended to in a more timely manner with waiting time greatly reduced. All children receive as much time as is necessary to evaluate and treat their presenting problem.
Some of the most common after-hours emergencies we treat are:
Broken bones, sprains, and other minor trauma - A broken or fractured bone requires immediate emergency care. Suspect a possible broken bone if your child heard or felt a bone snap, if your child has difficulty moving the injured part or if the injured part moves in an unnatural way or is very painful to the touch.
Fever - A fever is a common symptom of childhood illnesses. Some fever symptoms include chills, irritability, hallucinations and may be accompanied by a cough, earache or sore throat.
At the Urgi Center, we also treat children with urgent conditions such as asthma attacks and other respiratory illnesses, vomiting, diarrhea and dehydration requiring intravenous fluids.
The Pediatric Urgi Center is open:
Monday - Friday 3:00pm - 12:00 midnight
Saturday & Sunday 9:00am - 12:00 midnight
The Urgi Center is located in Room 160 on the first floor of Cohen Children's Medical Center.
