Allergy and Immunology - What to Expect

Patients who make appointments in the Allergy and Immunology Division:

  • Will be asked to fill out a complete history of their symptoms and medical health before they arrive.
  • After review of the patient-provided written history, you will be examined by the physician, and possible skin testing, pulmonary function testing, and/or blood tests may be ordered.
  • Patients with allergic symptoms should not take any antihistamines 5 days prior to their visit as these medications will prevent accurate testing for allergic triggers.
  • All prescriptions and instructions on how to take these medications are provided to patients.

There is a 24 hour, 7 days a week phone line to reach the physician on call for questions or emergencies that may arise after a visit.
