Friends and relatives often want to bring or send a gift to your child while he or she is in the hospital. Here are some suggestions:
- Simple, sturdy toys without sharp edges, easily breakable parts, or small pieces
- Stuffed animals
- Paper dolls
- Sturdy books
- Handheld video games
- Books or music on tape or CD
- Battery-operated tape or CD players
- A favorite video
Please remember that a hospitalized child’s energy is easily exhausted, and providing him or her with too many things to do or play with can be overwhelming.
Children enjoy having family photos and messages, and pictures from siblings and school friends. Please encourage your family and friends to send these items while your child is hospitalized, and especially during times when family visits aren’t possible.
